Skip Hire and Junk Removal in County Kildare: A Practical Guide

Oct 20
5 min read

If you live or work in County Kildare and have something to get rid of or move, this guide is for you. It covers skip hire, junk removal, house clearance and man with a van jobs. It explains which one suits which job, when a skip needs a permit, what the guide prices are and how to get a quote.

It is written for householders, landlords, executors and tradespeople across the county, from Naas and Newbridge out to Athy and Castledermot. SkipNow.ie covers 20 towns in Kildare, and the full list is further down.

How to choose the right service for your job

The right option mostly depends on what you are dealing with and how long the job will run.

Skip hire suits work that produces waste over several days. The skip is delivered, you fill it at your own pace, and it is collected afterwards. Delivery, collection and disposal are included, and the standard hire period is 4 days. Standard delivery takes 1-4 working days. If you have somewhere to put it, such as a private driveway, a skip is usually the simplest way to deal with a big mixed pile.

Junk removal suits the job where you would rather not fill anything yourself. Our crew loads straight into the van, so there is no skip on your property. We are licensed waste carriers and fully insured. You send photos and get a fixed price before we collect. Most jobs are collected within 1-3 working days of accepting the quote, and same-day is sometimes possible Tuesday to Thursday.

House clearance suits a whole property: a probate clearance, an end-of-tenancy clearance or a downsizing move. We price the entire property as one fixed job from photos of each room, the garage, the shed and the attic. Contents are sorted on site, good items go to charity where possible, and the rest is recycled or disposed of legally. Sentimental items can be set aside, and items of value can be offset against the cost. Most single-occupancy homes are cleared in one working day, and larger homes take 1-2 days.

A man with a van suits moving things rather than throwing them out: a sofa from a seller, a delivery you cannot fit in the car, or a small flat move. We are fully insured, use blankets and straps on every job, and can send a two-man crew for heavy items. Charity drop-offs are available on request.

Skip permits in County Kildare

If the skip sits on a private driveway, you do not need a permit.

If it has to go on a public road or footpath, you need to apply to Kildare County Council yourself. The application goes directly to the council, and the details are on kildarecoco.ie. Check the council site for what they require before you book, because the permit is the customer's to arrange.

Junk removal, house clearance and man with a van jobs need no permit at all. The crew loads straight into the van, so nothing is left on the road or footpath and there is no skip to license.

What affects the price

For skip hire, the price depends on the skip size and your exact address. You enter your Eircode on the price page, and it shows the sizes available to you and what each costs. Delivery, collection and disposal are included in the price you see.

Junk removal is priced from your photos, and the price is fixed before collection. Labour and disposal are included. Our guide prices are:

Single item from €49. Quarter van load from €200. Half load from €350. Full load from €650.

Material is sorted at a licensed transfer station, and around 70% is recycled. A certificate of disposal is available on request.

House clearance is quoted as one fixed price for the whole property. Because items of value can be offset against the cost, it is worth showing us everything in your photos. A certificate of disposal is available for landlords and executors.

Man with a van jobs are priced from a photo or list plus the pickup and drop-off addresses. Single items start from €40, furniture pickups from €60 and small flat moves from €180. Bigger or longer moves are quoted individually.

How to get a price or book

For a skip, go to the price page on SkipNow.ie and enter your Eircode. You will see the sizes and prices for your address, and you can book from there.

For junk removal or a house clearance, send photos. For a house clearance, include each room, the garage, the shed and the attic. You get a fixed price back before anything is collected.

For a man with a van, send a photo or a list of what needs moving, plus the pickup and drop-off addresses, and you get a fixed price. If you want same-day service, Tuesday to Thursday is when it is sometimes possible, so mention that when you ask.

Check skip sizes and prices for your address on the price page.
