Skip Hire and Clearance in County Wexford: A Practical Guide
If you live or work in County Wexford and have rubbish, old furniture or a whole house of contents to shift, this guide is for you. It covers the four services we offer at SkipNow.ie: skip hire, junk removal, house clearance and a man with a van.
Below you will find which service suits which job, when a council permit is needed, what affects the price, which towns we cover and how to get a price. It is written for homeowners, tenants, landlords, executors and anyone facing a big clear-out.
Which service suits your job
Skip hire suits a big job you will fill yourself over a few days, like a garden clear-out, a renovation or a long sort of the attic. Delivery, collection and disposal are included, and the standard hire period is 4 days. Standard delivery takes 1-4 working days, so book ahead rather than leaving it to the last minute.
Junk removal suits you if you would rather not lift anything. You send photos, we give you a fixed price before collection, and the crew loads straight into the van. Our crews are licensed waste carriers and fully insured. Most jobs are collected within 1-3 working days of accepting the quote, and same-day is sometimes possible Tuesday to Thursday. Material is sorted at a licensed transfer station, and around 70% is recycled.
House clearance is for a whole property, including probate, end-of-tenancy and downsizing clearances. We price the whole property as one fixed job from photos of each room, garage, shed and attic. Contents are sorted on site, good items go to charity where possible, and the rest is recycled or disposed of legally. Sentimental items can be set aside, and items of value can be offset against the cost. Most single-occupancy homes are cleared in one working day, and larger homes take 1-2 days.
A man with a van suits moving or collecting things rather than throwing them out. Think of a sofa bought second-hand, a single item, or a small flat move. Blankets and straps are used on every job, a two-man crew is available for heavy items, and charity drop-offs can be arranged on request. The van is fully insured.
Skip permits in County Wexford
A skip placed on a private driveway needs no permit. If it has to go on a public road or footpath, you need to apply to Wexford County Council for a permit. You make that application directly, and the council's website is wexfordcoco.ie.
Junk removal, house clearance and man with a van jobs need no permit at all. The crew loads straight into the van, so there is no skip sitting on the road. If you are unsure whether your spot counts as private or public, that is worth settling before you book a skip. If it turns out to be awkward, one of the other services may suit you better.
What affects the price
Skip prices depend on the skip size and the exact address. You enter your Eircode on our price page and it shows the sizes and prices available for your location. Delivery, collection and disposal are included in the price you see.
Junk removal is priced from your photos, and the price is fixed before collection. Our guide prices, with labour and disposal included, are: single item from €49, quarter van load from €200, half load from €350 and full load from €650.
For a man with a van, the price is fixed from a photo or list plus the pickup and drop-off addresses. Single items start from €40, furniture pickups from €60 and small flat moves from €180. Bigger or longer moves are quoted individually.
House clearance is quoted as one fixed price for the whole property from your photos. Items of value can be offset against the cost, which can bring the final figure down.

How to get a price or book
For a skip, go to the price page, enter your Eircode and pick the size that fits. You will see the price for your address before you commit.
For junk removal, house clearance or a man with a van, send photos of what needs to go. For a van job, add a list if you have one, along with the pickup and drop-off addresses. We come back with a fixed price. For a house clearance, include photos of each room, the garage, the shed and the attic so the quote covers everything.
Once you accept the quote, we arrange a date. If you need it done quickly, say so when you send your photos, as same-day is sometimes possible Tuesday to Thursday for junk removal and van jobs.
Check skip sizes and prices for your address on the price page.
Common questions
Do I need a permit for a skip?
Not on a private driveway. If the skip goes on a public road or footpath, you apply to Wexford County Council directly through wexfordcoco.ie. Junk removal, clearances and van jobs need no permit.
How long can I keep a skip?
The standard hire period is 4 days. Standard delivery is 1-4 working days, so plan around that when you pick your start date.
Can I get proof that waste was disposed of properly?
Yes. A certificate of disposal is available on request for junk removal, and for house clearance it is available for landlords and executors.
